He was born in England to Betsy and Stanley Newton. The family immigrated to Canada where they resided in Ottawa, then came to the United States, to Elizabethtown, then Louisville.
Albert was in the Canadian Army and Canadian Airforce, serving during WWII and was awarded two medals.
He was a talented musician, specializing in the French horn. He was the owner of Schickli Contracting Company of Louisville.
Albert was always very sharp minded, politically savvy and witty to the end.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Gordon Newton; his first wife, Rhoda Newton, and his second wife, Wilma Newton.
Albert is survived by his sister, Audrey Newton Edlin of Elizabethtown; his son, Douglas Albert Newton (Sheila); stepchildren, Mike Davies, and Brenda Turner; his grandchildren, Hilary Noltemeyer (Kyle), Graham Newton (Emily), and step-granddaughter, Stacey Smith; four great-grandchildren, Willow, Mirabel, Lincoln and Lydia, and his good friend, Debra Locke.
Visitation for Mr. Newton will be Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Arch L. Heady Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY, from 3pm until 5pm, at which time, there will be a celebration of his life.
