Nick was born on December 29, 1942 to Marta Rendorio Repollo and Esteban Rosal Negrillo in San Juan, San Manuel, Pangasinan, Philippines. He is survived by his wife Katie, his two daughters Lisa Negrillo of San Francisco, CA and Amy Kay Illich of Temecula, CA. He is also survived by his three grandchildren Theodore, Anabel and River also by his sisters; Letty, Carmely and Daisy. He was preceded in death by his mother Marta, his father Esteban as well as his brother Romeo.
Nick came to the United States in the early 70’s in search of the “American Dream” He met and married Katie in 1977 in Indio Ca. They welcomed their first daughter, Lisa in 1979 and their second daughter Amy Kay in 1982. Nick worked many jobs up and down the California coast, Coachella Valley and Fresno County before He and Katie settled in Los Osos, California. They purchased their first home in 1985. While this was their forever home, The Philippines, his friends, and family that resided there were always in his heart and mind. He made it a priority to show his love and support by sending packages of clothing and “American Snacks” to his family and their community. In 1994 Nick’s father Esteban was able to come to the US to live with Nick and his family. This was a part of his dream that was long awaited and finally came to reality.
In his early life, Nick was a lover of fast cars, playing blackjack with friends, fishing and farming. He enjoyed Seagrams 7 & 7up and Marlboro Red cigarettes. He loved his family, friends, and the community he lived and worked in. Nick centered his life around his family, working multiple jobs to make ends meet and a little extra to never have to say “No” to whatever his wife or daughters were asking of him. He continued to work well after the retirement age. After his first grandchild Theo was born, he was easily convinced to retire at the age of 73 years old. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, long walks with his dog, watching sports, BBQing in the backyard, traveling and gardening.
Nick’s perseverance and determination was admirable to all who knew him. He is his daughters’ biggest motivation, and they will carry his legacy of strength, fortitude and unconditional love on to their children. He is deeply missed by his family and friends.
