He was always an engaged person who pursued his interests with passion. His love and talent in baseball led to him being drafted by the New York Yankees and he was honored
to play in their minor league system. As a switch hitter, he was one of only a few players to hit a home run from each side of the plate in a single game at the Polo Grounds.
In later life, he became the owner of a nightclub in Los Angeles known as The Horn while developing an oil seal business in the 1970’s. This venture led to his ownership of Nu-Seals which relocated
from the Los Angeles area to San Luis Obispo in the 1990’s. His company was the first to seek manufactured parts in Asia. He was known as an industry leader and his expertise and guidance
was sought by many companies.
His interests in San Luis Obispo County included supporting Cal Poly Arts, the Cal Poly Men’s Basketball team, where you would see him often sitting courtside. He also supported Woods Humane Society and the San Luis Obispo Jewish Community.
His marriage to Brenda in 1999 was a combination of a love affair, a partnership and an experience of being at the center of each other’s lives. She is hoping to continue his spirit of generosity and helping people in need.
A friend once told her to find a man with a dog and grandchildren so she would learn about unconditional love, which she certainly did. Jules leaves behind a loving family which includes his wife Brenda Hock, sons Daniel and David Hock, daughter, Adrienne Hock-Shivers and grandchildren Jacob Hock, Devra Hock-Reid and Rebecca Shivers.
