Bill Rosner, beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, in-law and friend, passed away on May 30, 2022 after a brief illness. Bill was a cancer survivor, having battled mantle cell lymphoma and thyroid cancer for more than 20 years. He was recently diagnosed with a recurrence of cancer but seemed to be doing well until he suffered a health crisis from an infection that spread to his brain.
Bill loved sports, especially baseball, and often attended Dodger games, arriving early to watch batting practice and, win or lose, staying until the last out. His favorite teams were the Dodgers and Yankees, and he owned an impressive collection of bobbleheads, tee-shirts, hats, cups and other memorabilia. He had an astonishing memory for baseball and football statistics. He could recite game scores, batting averages and earned run averages dating back more than four decades. He had maintained a lifetime interest in astronomy.
In later years, Bill became involved in activities at City of Hope where he was treated for cancer. Bill was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena and loved being part of their congregation.
William Douglas Rosner was born in New York City on October 28, 1951, the son of Joseph and Electra Rosner. His family moved to California in 1957, eventually settling in Brentwood. Bill attended Kenter Canyon Elementary, Paul Revere Junior High and Palisades High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in recreational studies from Cal State Northridge with the goal of becoming a park recreation coach.
Bill is survived by his father Joseph Rosner, stepmother, Nancy Rosner, siblings Karen Rosner, Lindi Rosner, Mara Kedem, Elizabeth Rosner and Jack Rosner; brothers-in-law Van Jordan, Keith Gayhart and Tal Kedem; nephews Dashiell Gayhart, Elliot Silber and Gabriel Kedem; and nieces Tess Gayhart and Orly Kedem. He was predeceased by his mother, Electra Rosner.
In lieu of flowers please send donations in the name of William Douglas Rosner to City of Hope or All Saints Episcopal Church, Pasadena.
