Anne Holland (Evalyn Anne Gibson) peacefully passed away on June 30, 2023, at her home in Rancho Mirage, CA, surrounded by her loving family. She was 88 years old. Anne was born on December 19, 1934, in Danville, Illinois, to the late Evalyn Olson and Berlin Jack Gibson.
During her youth, Anne found joy in playing tennis, piano, and ice skating. In 1971, she relocated to California to pursue her passion for interior design. Her exceptional taste and meticulous attention to detail propelled her into a successful career, where she became renowned for her creative and sophisticated approach to designing condominiums, country clubs, and celebrity homes. Anne earned the reputation of being the "colonel" of her trade, always on point. In her leisure time, she enjoyed socializing and playing tennis at The Racquet Club.
Anne was cherished as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her vibrant personality radiated love for her family, friends, fashion, travel, entertaining, and engaging in various social events in Rancho Mirage. She found immense joy in traveling with her family to Sun Valley, Idaho.
Active in her community, Anne dedicated herself to supporting programs that held a special place in her heart. She proudly served as a founding Angel to the Rancho Mirage Writer's Festival, sat on the Board of the Palm Springs Philharmonic, and generously contributed to Children's Hospital Los Angeles and Eisenhower Medical Center.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Greg (Robert Gregory Meidel), daughter-in-law Nancy Caroline Meidel, grandson Blake Gregory Meidel, granddaughter Katelyn Caroline Meidel, as well as her nieces and nephews. Anne held a deep love for her late husband, Emil Holland, and treasured his wonderful family, including daughters Cora Ginsberg and the late Dede Thea, along with their husbands Ted Ginsberg (deceased and Michael Thea. Anne adored Emil's seven grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Pearson (Robert Pearson Meidel), and her brothers William, Jack, and Phillip Gibson.
A celebration of Anne's remarkable life will be held this Fall. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to be made to Children's Hospital Los Angeles Heart Institute (Connie Sanchez, (323) 361-1743).
Anne's warm presence, boundless creativity, and deep love for her family and friends will forever be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
