We said our final goodbye to Dolores, age 92, on August 6. She had been in declining health after falling and being hospitalized for pneumonia in mid-May. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. Dolores was an Early Childhood Educator extraordinaire!
Dolores was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. She moved to California as a teen and never left. She earned a B.A. from UC Berkeley and her M.A. from CSUN. After having three children she began what would become her lifelong career. She started as parent-teacher in her children’s cooperative preschool, then became director. She moved on to the CSUN Child Development Lab School as teacher, then director. She developed the Early Childhood program at Moorpark College, from the ground up, and continued there for more than 20 years. Upon retiring she did volunteer work, notably working with domestic violence shelters and library literacy programs.
Dolores was predeceased by her husband Albert Deutsch and her second husband Guy Raner She is survived by her children, Diana Deutsch, David Deutsch, Debra Kilroy and their families, and other family members. At her request and due to Covid concerns, there will be no memorial at this time. We will miss her love and support. Please consider making a donation in her memory to one of the organizations below.
