William Edward York Sr

Graveside services for W.E. York, Sr. are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 5, 2017, at Truce Cemetery in Jacksboro, Texas.

Mr. York was born October 4, 1920, in Rogers, Texas to John Edward and Susan Iberia (Birdie) Hairgrove York, and passed away February 28, 2017, in Kilgore, Texas.

Bill served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, he was a 50 year Mason, and a Deacon in the Liberty City Assembly of God. He loved to fish, play golf, and garden, but most of all he loved his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of over 74 years, Alta Olena Guest York; daughter, Patricia Cherry and husband Glen of, Liberty City, Texas; son, Bill York and wife Rita of New Diana, Texas; and daughter, Ruth Smith and husband Curtis Smith of Kilgore, Texas. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a sister, Lois Cannel and husband Jim of El Campo, Texas; and a niece, Keeter Whitley of Eddy, Texas. The family will receive guest from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 3, 2017 at Lakeview Funeral Home.
