Wardie Truman McCarthy

Services for Wardie will be held at 11am at Lakeview Funeral Home on Monday January 17, 2022 with his pastor Bro Ottis Jarrell officiating.

Wardie was born August 15, 1947 to mother Mary Magdaline McCarty. He married his beloved wife Betty Ruth on August 17, 1968 and began his life’s work of taking care of her and their children.

Wardie was a devoted husband, a proud father and grandfather, a loyal son, a caring brother, a loving father-in-law, a warm and company-loving friend, and a much loved member of his community.

In his life he was a storyteller, a master plumber, a delayed high school graduate and a loyal employee until the day he died. He will be missed and fondly remembered by all who ever met him.

Wardie was reunited with his mother and beloved step father Mary and William Gordon, wife Betty Ruth McCarthy, brothers Joe McCarthy and David Gordon.

Left to celebrate his memory are his children and spouses, Stephanie and David Whyte, Steven and Stephanie McCarthy, Rachel and Rick Workman, Tracie and Donnie Skinner. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Summer Nicks, Shone Whyte, Carson McCarthy, Steven, Angelos, and William Skinner.

Also left to honor his memory are his siblings Elaine Phillips, Travis Gordon, Clarence (Frog) Gordon, and Sterman Gordon.

Along with many nieces and nephews that affectionately know him as Uncle Ward.

Visitation will be at Lakeview Funeral Home Sunday 6-8pm
