Timothy Patrick Swisher, 53, of Longview, Texas lost his courageous battle with cancer on January 25, 2014. Timmy was born on October 27, 1960 in Dallas, Texas to Neil and Kay Swisher. He grew up in Longview and graduated from Longview High School in 1979. For most of his adult life, Timmy worked as a salesman for the family-owned company, East Texas Machine Works, Inc. which was started in 1973 and is still owned and operated by the family. Timmy enjoyed playing basketball, golf, riding horses, saving stray animals, volunteering for the Special Olympics in Longview, taking care of his parent's ranch and spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Kay Swisher. He is survived by his father Neil D. Swisher of Longview; brother Randy Swisher and his wife Jamie of Longview; his 2 sisters Jennifer McStravick and her husband John E. of Tomball, TX; and Laura Swisher of Houston, TX; and his nieces and nephews Trent Swisher of Durango, CO; Audra Swisher of Baton Rouge, LA; Zack Simons of Longview; Kathleen, Robert, and Ann Marie McStravick of Tomball.
Visitation will be held at Greggton United Methodist Church at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, February 1, with the Funeral Service to begin at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Timmy’s name may be made to the "Humane Society of Northeast Texas," 303 Enterprise St, Longview, TX 75604, or "East Texas Lightnin" (local Official Special Olympics Team), 606 West Garfield Dr, Longview, TX, 75602.
