Marion S. Newsom was born in Galveston, Texas on March 13, 1941, to parents Johnny W. Newsom and Vera Kindzetta (Jacobs) Newsom (Moss), both deceased. He had one sister Myra Yvonne (Moss) Click, also deceased. He was better known to his friends as Sam or by his road name "Goose". He enjoyed nearly 60 years of motorcycling and was a life member of the 42 Taillights. He was also a life member of NRA. He passed away February 21, 2024. Sam served with the United States Navy from June 1960 to June 1964 as a Photographer 3rd Class. He worked as a Precision Lab Photographic Technician for Technicolor Graphic Services, Inc., a contractor for the NASA Johnson Space Center, from August 1965 to February 1992. His greatest contribution in this career was the ability to perform any photographic task he was assigned. During that time, he met and married Shirley Ann Brown on March 13, 1971. He had many interests, but his passions included not only motorcycling but photography, hunting, sailing, and fishing. He enjoyed being accompanied on hunting trips by his labradors: Chester and Boston. In recent years his interest turned to black powder guns. He didn't know a stranger and was known for his humor and making people laugh; you never knew what he would say! He didn't want a funeral service and said when he died just announce to the world, "The Goose is Loose"! Left to cherish his memories are several cousins in Arkansas, Colorado, and Texas, and his wife of nearly 53 years, Shirley.
