Rhonda Ann Vallangingham, 57, of Longview passed away on January 12, 2018 at a local hospital. She was born July 6, 1960 to Sherry Ann Wallace and James Vallandingham. From the day she was born, her mother knew that she was a very special individual. Rhonda would always stretch the limitations that others placed on her. While growing up, she would make sure to see that local businesses around Longview were actually handicap accessible. After high school, she went to Kilgore College, and was able to get the college to install elevators for her to be able to have access to upper floors. She graduated from Kilgore and attended East Texas State University, receiving her Bachelors in Communications, using that degree to work for our local KLTV, where she wrote stories and worked the teleprompter. In 1992, she was a contestant in the Ms. Wheelchair Texas Pageant, where she won the talent portion of the contest.
Rhonda is survived by her mother, Sherry Wallace of Longview; aunt: Rosemary Dyer and her husband Lee of Hallsville; cousins: Kirk Bradford of Dallas, Kevin Bradford and his wife Lynnet of College Station, and Brandi Bradford of Longview; uncle: D.T. Vallandingham and his wife Janey of Mississippi; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by grandparents: Bud and Rose Ann Gregory and Ruth Vallandingham; and father: James Vallandingham.
A time of visitation with Rhonda's family will start at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Lakeview Funeral Home with a celebration of her life beginning at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
