Renee Adoree Watrous was born on Thursday, December 22, 1927 in Oxford, Kansas to parents Ira Dawson Watrous and Eula Edna Wallace Watrous. She passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022 at her home in New Mexico.
Renee had a heart of gold and a servant's attitude. She was always willing to help and support her family, friends and neighbors. She was a mother who knew how to build confidence, faith, respect, and a strong work ethic in her children. She loved to sew, do crafts and yard work. She was always involved with her girl's school activities like PTA, band organizations and church.
She married Roy Shelton Smith, a WWII veteran. They were married until his passing on Monday, November 24, 1975. She was a loving Wife, Mother, and a Homemaker. They had 2 girls Sandra Sue Smith and Deborah Kay Smith. When the girls were in high school, Renee went to work at Thompson's Department store in Longview as a bookkeeper, buyer and sales consultant.
Renee later married Charlie Rodger Gray and moved to Hobbs, New Mexico in 1987. She lived there until 1991 when Charlie passed away.
Renee is survived by two daughters, Sandra Sue Millican of Evergreen, CO and Deborah Kay Stewart of Newkirk, NM, son-in-laws Richard Millican and Jeffrey Stewart, brother Marion (Goggy) Watrous of Willis, TX, and 2 sisters Thela Garner of Willis, TX and Naomi Sibert of Cypress, TX, three grandsons, Jacob Stewart, Justin Stewart, Joshua Stewart and 6 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Lakeview Funeral Home, 5000 West Harrison Road, Longview, Texas 75604, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
