Funeral services for Mr. R.E. “Buddy” Rodgers, Jr., 86, of Henderson, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at the First Baptist Church of Henderson with Reverend David Higgs officiating. A private family interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview under the direction of Lakeview Funeral Home.

The family will receive guests one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday in the mall area of the First Baptist Church of Henderson.

Mr. Rodgers passed away on March 16, 2016, in Longview, Texas. He was born to the Reverend R.E. Rodgers and Genetta Deason Rodgers in Henderson on October 28, 1929. He spent his adult life enjoying a career as a car salesman throughout Henderson and East Texas. Buyers would come far and wide to get a “fair deal” from Buddy Rodgers. Mr. Rodgers was a member of the First Baptist Church of Henderson and enjoyed participating in the music ministry and Sunday school. In later years, he and his wife Mary managed the Spring Creek Apartments, also in Henderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, R.E. and Genetta Rodgers; and sisters Inez Campbell, Geraldine Riddle, and Imogene Smith, all of Oklahoma.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Rodgers of Henderson; son Stan Rodgers and wife Connie of Henderson; daughter Stacey Johnson and husband Jay of Henderson; granddaughter Lauren Calvin and husband Rob of The Woodlands; granddaughter Tonya Stephens of Whitehouse; and brother Reverend Roddy Rodgers and wife Vicki of Floresville, Texas.
