Muriel “Peggy” Smith, 94, of Longview, TX passed away May 5, 2016 at a local nursing home. She was born November 30, 1921 in Brattleboro, Vermont to Guy and Ethel Kasper Prefontaine. She graduated high school and married Clyde Smith on December 16, 1941. He preceded her in death on January 20, 1989. Ms. Smith loved to sing and pray to her Lord. She is what is known as a prayer warrior. She was a charter member of the New Beginnings Church and currently a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. She loved to help others whether it was by volunteering at the Buckner Family Mission or working in the church nursery, she loved to give a hand.
She is survived by her sons David Thomas Smith and his wife Elizabeth of Longview and Durward Vaughn Smith and his wife Linda of Longview; daughter-in-law: Carolyn Smith of Longview; grandchildren: Michael Smith, Tessa, Peter Smith, Dolores Moehl and her husband Brad, Heather Boston, Rebecca Fuller and her husband Chris, Dusty Smith and his wife Kristy, and Kerah Smith; twelve great grandchildren; adopted grandson: Eric Metcalf of Ft. Worth, as well as a number of extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son-Clyde Dennis Smith; grandson-Dennis Wayne Smith and sister-Marie Cole.
A time of visitation with her family will be from 10 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Lakeview Funeral Home with the funeral services beginning at 11:00 in the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home with Rev. John Wallingford officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
