Mary Elizabeth Wallace Leach

Mary Elizabeth Leach, 96, formerly of Longview, passed away September 20, 2013 at the Baptist Retirement Home in Asheville, NC. She was born April 10, 1917 in Downsville, Louisiana to Douglas and Mary Elizabeth Roberts Wallace. Mrs. Leach graduated from Downsville High School where she was valedictorian of her class. She attended Junior College in West Monroe, LA until falling in love and marrying Johnie P. Leach in January 1936. He preceded her in death in 1986 shortly after celebrating

50 years of marriage. Mrs. Leach was a Longview resident until 1987 when she moved to North Carolina. While residing in Longview, she was very involved in the Longview First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and a ladies bible study. She was a woman with many talents including painting, sewing, reading and cooking.

Mrs. Leach is survived by her daughters: Mary Ellen Todd of Dallas, TX, Kathryn Marie Tait and husband James of Clayton, NC; Martha Ann Jones and husband Jerry of Ashville, NC; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and five siblings.

Visitation will be from 1-2:00 pm, Friday, September 27, 2013 at the Memory Park Mausoleum Chapel, Longview Texas, with services following at 2:00 pm.
