Jerry Allen Welch, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on June 20th, 2023, at the age of 75. Born on September 13th, 1947, in Evansville, Indiana, Jerry led a life full of diverse experiences and touched the hearts of many.
Jerry began his journey at Reitz High School, where he laid the foundation for a successful future. After graduation, In 1968, Jerry answered the call to serve his country and joined the Army, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class. Jerry's service in the Army lasted from 1968 to 1972, during which he showed bravery and dedication to his fellow soldiers and his country.
Then he pursued higher education and obtained certifications in HVAC and Maintenance Apprentice Technician. With his passion for learning and dedication, Jerry excelled in his field.
A man of service, Jerry served as a jailer at the Posey County Jail and also at Longview City Jail, where he demonstrated his commitment to maintaining order and safety within the community. He also worked as an oil field rigger for three years, showcasing his versatility and adaptability.
Later in his life, Jerry worked and retired at Stemco as a maintenance mechanic and head wastewater technician. His expertise and skills contributed to the smooth operation of the company, earning him the respect of his colleagues.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jerry had a zest for life. He indulged in his
passions for raising his birds, fishing, fast cars, riding motorcycles, great sound systems, and, above all, his unwavering faith in God. These hobbies brought him joy and enriched his relationships with family and friends.
Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Forrest Welch, his mother, Goldie Mullen, and his brothers, Gary Welch and Jim Welch. He is survived by his loving children, Crystal Welch and her soon to be spouse Dustin, and Jerry Welch and his spouse Crystal.
Jerry's memory will also live on through his cherished grandchildren: Haeleigh Wilson, Christian Wilson, Danyon Welch and his spouse Rokkie, Chance McKey and his spouse Paxton, Sabra Welch and her spouse Will, as well as his great-grandchildren Mason, Zayden, Dawson, and his soon-to-be-born great-grandchild, Baby Kyzer.
Jerry also leaves behind his sister, Candy Medlin, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends and co-workers who have shared in his life's journey.
Jerry Allen Welch will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his commitment to service, and his zest for life. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate to have known him.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
A memorial service for Jerry will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Lakeview Funeral Home, 5000 W. Harrison Road, Longview, TX 75604.
