Jerry L. Farr, 58, of Gladewater, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2011. Mr. Farr was born on September 23, 1953 in Anniston, Alabama to Willie E. and Mary J. Farr. He was preceeded in death by his parents and his brother, David.
Jerry was a devoted husband, father and big daddy and will be loved and remembered forever. His kindness and generosity will be dearly missed by all those who were blessed to know him.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Karen Smith Farr of Gladewater; Daughter and son-in-law: Kellie and Kenton Simpson of Hallsville; Daughter: Nikki and fiancé Rip Morris of Longview; four granddaughters: Courtnie, Jessica, and Kylie of Hallsville, Madison Morris of Mesquite, and one more grandchild due in May. He is also survived by his faithful companion Sawyer.
Professionally, Jerry worked most of his life in the restaurant business. He had worked for both Hardies and IHOP corporations before owning and operating his own IHOP Franchise in Longview and during his ownership, had won numerous sales and achievement awards from IHOP.
Jerry enjoyed bass fishing to the fullest competing in many tournaments over the years. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, taking them fishing while teaching them how to catch and release as well. He also enjoyed watching football, basketball, playing pool, and poker with the guys.
Jerry’s family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in his honor to the memorial fund established at Texas Bank and Trust where all proceeds will be donated to Beacon Hospice at Margaret’s House.
Funeral services are scheduled for today at 2:00 P.M. at the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home, with Rev. Jim Rust officiating.
