Elaine Bridges Lewis

Ms. Lewis was born on July 14, 1923 in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana to Ruben Lee and Myrtle Lois Etheredge Bridges. She married Harry Leigh Lewis in 1943 in Longview, Texas. He preceeded her in death as did her sister Edith Seidner.

She was an executive secretary for LeTourneau Industries. Ms. Lewis loved music. She and her family were members of the Longview Music Club as well as the Longview Symphony League. She was also a member of the Longview Women’s Club, The Longview Fine Arts Association, Longview Prelude, Phi Sigma Alpha, and the American Business Womens Association.

She is survived by her sister: Dorothy Sheckels of White Oak, TX and her sons Neil Sheckels and Ben Nelson “Stormy” Sheckels; son: Bill Lewis of Leander, Texas; daughter: Mary E. Lewis of Longview, TX; Grandchildren: Alison Lewis and Elizabeth Lewis Simmons of Leander, TX; great grandchildren: Jordon Marquez and Jonah Marquez of Leander, TX; brother-in-law Allen Seidner and his son Steve Seidner of Fort Worth, TX; and many other extended family members.

A memorial service will be held in her honor at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the Memory Park Mausoleum Chapel with the Reverend Shanna Neff officiating. Memorials may be made to the Petco Foundation, 7262 North Rosemead Blvd, San Gabriel, CA 91775.
