Carrie Bell Burns Moon, 86, of Longview, Texas passed away with her children at her side, holding her hands on July 9, 2014 at her residence. She was born on March 6, 1928 in Henderson to Stephen Douglas and Elizabeth Carrie Burns.
Mrs. Moon was the very definition of a classy lady. She was always nicely dressed from the ground up. She would be in her finest jewelry, accessories and makeup, no matter if she was only doing things around the house. In the early 50’s, she was actually a music host for KFRO and was able to sing with greats such as Hank Williams and Jim Ed Brown and was invited to sing at the Grand Old Opry. Mrs. Moon also learned the value of garage sailing and flea marketing, buying items there that she believed that she could flip and make a profit in her own garage sale.
Carrie Bell met and married the love of her life, Kenneth Earl Moon, who preceded her in death only two months to the day of her passing, and he was known to have loved and cherished her, with all of his heart, which was always all too obvious when you would see them dancing together. Through her life, she was a peacemaker among her friends and enjoyed sharing her love for cooking and singing with them and especially with her family during their get togethers.
She is survived by her son: Steve Clifton Moon of Lakeport, CA; daughters: Jan Moon Gibbs and her husband Lynn of Austin, Earlene Moon of Longview, and Arlene Moon Wilson and her husband Mark of Hallsville; 20 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son: Kenneth Nelson Moon, son: Cecil Jackson Smith and 8 brothers and sisters.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2014 at the First Assembly of God Church, 110 US Hwy 80 East, Gladewater, Texas with Bro. Terrell Pearson “Bro. Laney” officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:00 a.m. at the church before the services.
