Anna Muriel Tucker, 97, of Kilgore, Texas passed away on June 27, 2024 at her Buckner Westminster Place residence in Longview. She was born August 22, 1926 in Albion, Illinois to Harvey and Lucy Rice, one of nine children, and a twin.
In 1949, Anna married Gerald Delbert Tucker in Illinois. Four children were born: Debbie, David, Michael, and Robert (Bob). Also for a season three Holmes children lived with the Tuckers; Ginger, David, and Jeff.
In June, 1966, Gerald was ordained as an Assemblies of God minister. Shortly, they entered pastoral ministry and served ten years each as pastors of Victory Assembly of God (Longview, TX) and Laird Hill Assembly of God (Laird Hill, TX). They then served 10 years on staff at Ozark Bible Institute & College (Neosho, MO), returning to Liberty City, TX for their retirement years.
Anna served beside her husband with a servant's heart. She supported his ministry in numerous ways: gathering aluminum cans for missions, sewing items for church youth fundraisers, chauffering parishioners to church activities, nursing home ministry, serving as sponsors for married couples at Ozark Bible Institute. Anna loved to cook for her family. Family favorites, always plentiful, were her Swiss steak, scalloped potatoes, and fudge cake.
Anna as well as her family are grateful for her time at Buckner. She made many dear friends. She received loving and attentive care by both Buckner Skilled Nursing and Buckner Assisted Living personnel as well as her Hospice Plus caregivers. We also express gratitude for the long-time care of her physician, Dr Surya Lanka, and his nurse, Ashley. Family members lovingly attended Anna's needs around-the-clock in her last days.
Survivors include her children; daughter Debbie and Roger Lewis of North Richland Hills; sons David and Donna Tucker of Neosho, MO, Mike and Julie Tucker of Longview, and Robert (Bob) and Jacey Tucker of White Oak; grandchildren Jeremy Lewis, Daran and Dathan Tucker, Anna and Jared Tucker, Chris and Shannon Tucker, Mandy Davis, Amy Williams, Kelly Thomas (and spouses); and twenty great-grandchildren. Mrs. Tucker is also survived by a sister, Louise Loudermilk of Mt Carmel, Illinois; two sister-in-laws, (Betty Tucker, Shirley Tucker), nieces and nephews, and a host of friends from churches and Bible School. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers (James, Edgar, Harvey, Wilbur) and three sisters (Lelia Barber Tatman, Beulah Moore & Amy Ruth Bosecker Smith, her twin) and great-granddaughter, Alexa Tucker.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 12 pm at Lakeview Funeral Home (5000 W Harrison Rd, Longview).
Anna's memorial service will immediately follow at 2 pm in the Lakeview Chapel.
