Our beloved ‘Santa’, William ‘Bill’ Wolfe passed away peacefully 12/5/2020. He was born in Chicago, IL to Dr. John V and Helen (Harber) Wolfe on February 20, 1935. He attended Notre Dame Seminary before returning to Chicago to attend and graduate from Immaculate Conception High School. He graduated from St. Joseph’s College in Indiana in 1958. He married Donna M. Myalls on June 16, 1962.
He began his career in education teaching history at Quigley North Preparatory High School in Chicago. After Quigley he taught at Hales Franciscan High School. He left teaching to develop social studies/history textbooks and curriculums with Silver Burdette Publishing in Morristown NJ. His love of education brought him to Boulder CO in 1984 to continue work in developing teaching materials. He moved from Boulder to Longmont after retirement in 2007. After retirement Bill became a professional Santa Claus, a job he adored.
Bill was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and spent his life waiting for the World Series Championship to come to his beloved Wrigley Field. This dream of a Cubs World Series win came true on November 2, 2016. His other passions included golf, genealogy, and Christmas.
Above all else, Bill adored his family. He has left a legacy of compassion, acceptance, kindness and wisdom for all who knew him. His boisterous laugh and always joyful sense of humor are permanently imprinted on our hearts. He was a great husband, father, uncle, brother, cousin and Granpa Guy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. John V. Wolfe and Helen Louise Wolfe (Harber); his Brother John ‘Jack” Wolfe; and his son Joseph J. Wolfe;
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Donna M. Wolfe (Myalls), sister Marianne Andrews, daughter Lisa M. Gerwig, son William Paul Maurice Wolfe II (Danielle A. Wolfe), grandchildren William Jacob Gerwig, Brianne M. Ryan (Parker J. Ryan), and Steven Alexander Gerwig (Emily A Gerwig), and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who were dear to him. Bill never met a stranger.
