William Buckley Prout passed peacefully on February 2, 2024, in Longmont, Colorado. He was a Colorado Native born in Denver to William Curtis Prout and Merlene Buckley. He graduated from South High School in Denver in 1963 and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Construction Management from Colorado State University in 1967. He married his beloved wife of 54 years, Dianne Kay Vogel, on June 28, 1969.
Bill was well respected in the construction world, building a successful career before retiring in 2015. He began his career with Swinerton and Walberg, Co., working for the U.S. Department of Energy, Phipps Construction, Inc., The S.M. Stoller Corp., and Interstate Electric before joining Sun Construction as the capstone to his career. He was a stalwart leader and dedicated mentor.
Bill was a man of great faith, bringing his leadership to many organizations: Campus Crusade for Christ, O.U.R. Center Board of Directors, Faith Community Lutheran Church council president, Life Choices Pregnancy Center, Fellowship of Companies for Christ International, and the Mountain States Children Home.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Bill. He was a talented woodworker, creating beautiful pieces including building a guitar and many treasured heirlooms for his family. He was an avid reader and impossible to beat in trivia. His greatest passion was his family and being a wonderful Bapa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his beautiful wife, Dianne Kay Prout, his daughters Cristin (Patrick) Sherwood, Michelle (Tom) Kramer, Sarah Prout Golobic, son Jonathan Prout, grandchildren David, William, Liam, Henry, Anna, Rachel, Eli, Grey, Jameson, and Ellis, and great grandchildren Peter and Michael.
He is preceded in death by his parents Curt and Lynn Prout, and his sisters Carol Brown, Rae McDowell, and Jan Durlin.
Bill’s memorial service will be at Faith Community Lutheran Church on February 15, 2024, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Faith Community Lutheran Church.
