William R. ""Bud"" Calder, of Dacono, Colorado, died July 19, 2008, at Longmont United Hospital. He was 76.Bud was born on October 7, 1931, in Fairbury, Nebraska to Robert R. Calder and Katherine Pearman Calder. He grew up and graduated from Fairbury High School in 1948. He married Vi Schrock on March 11, 1951, in Fairbury.A love for the outdoors and using his hands immediately led him to the field of construction. He worked for 40 years in Nebraska, Kansas and Colorado. He spent his years as a superintendent with Murray and Stafford Construction, Denver. He was a member of Carpenters Local Union #510. Bud was never idle and after his retirement due to health reasons, he pursued his joys even more enthusiastically including fishing, woodworking, flying and hunting. His numerous trips to Alaska, Canada, Louisiana fishing with family and friends and completely restoring a WWII vintage Stinson L-5 airplane were highlights. He had a long time association with the Civil Air Patrol, participating in many search and rescue operations.Surviving are his wife of Dacono; two daughters, Tina Donnelly and her husband, Lyall, of Longmont, and Tami Calder of Highlands Ranch; four granddaughters, Kodi Younghein Daley, Leyalle and Erinn Donnelly all of Longmont; a sister, Margaret Calder of San Antonio, TX; a brother-in-law, Rodney Schock and his wife, Janice, of Fairbury; and numerous nieces and nephews.Visitation hours will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 24 at the Howe Mortuary Community Room. A cremation will follow.
