Victor Hugo Duke Weidmann, who admitted to being in the last one quarter of his first 100 years, died on July 31, 2015. He lived in Longmont, Colorado. He was born in New York to Victor Hugo and Dorothy (Caldwell) Weidmann.Mr. Weidmann married Eleanor J. Porreca of Medford, Massachusetts in 1949. They are the parents of Donna L. Walter, Fort Collins, Colorado, Lisa M. Weidmann (deceased), Fort Collins, Colorado, and Suzanne V. Morrison and son-in-law Michael Morrison, Los Osos, California. They have one grandson and two great-grandsons. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Lofton and her husband James of Fort Collins, Colorado.He served in all theaters of operation during World War II as a seaman, small boat coxswain, and quartermaster with the U.S. Coast Guard. From the end of WWII to the end of the Korean War he was a member of the U.S. Navy Reserve serving in both surface and submarine units.A civil engineer, land surveyor, construction claims arbitrator, and wastewater treatment plant operator he was a graduate of Northeastern University, Boston Massachusetts. In 1956 he entered the private practice of (consulting) engineering field after a short management career with U.S. Steel Corporation. After working as a branch office manager for an out of state firm he opened his own engineering practice in 1963 in Gary and Hobart, Indiana. In 1972 he moved his practice to Colorado where he continued until the closing of the practice in 2008. Mr. Weidmann was the recipient of national and international recognitions by his professional peers. Additionally he was involved in farming and ranching activities during the 1970's and 1980's.Professionally he was a Diplomat of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers, carried on the Roster of Neutrals of the American Arbitration Association, a Life Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, a Life Fellow of the American Consulting Engineers Council, and a Life Member of the American Water Works Association. Personally he was a member of the paralyzed Veterans of America, the American Quarter Horse Association, and the National Rifle Association.He was a member of the Summit Foursquare Church in Longmont, Colorado having become a Christian in 1983. Jesus Christ was his life. For several decades he had been active in conservative and constitutional political activities.Private graveside services will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery and a memorial service will take place at Summit Foursquare Church at 1:00pm, Friday, September 25, 2015.
