He was the oldest of eight children, three brothers and four sisters. As a young boy in Casper, WY he pulled on his first pair of cowboy boots and his first cowboy hat. Even as a child cowboying was in his blood and springtimes were filled with helping to brand cattle. He loved sports from wrestling to football and was the best at everything he did.
Tim joined the Air Force as soon as he was able. Shortly after this he married the love of his life, Betty Jo Johnston. Tim and Betty spent 40 wonderful years together and raised Betty’s three children, Terry, Karry Jo and Shane. And even though they never had children of their own, to Kyron and Jenny, Tim was the only father they ever knew and he cared for them as his own.
After his time in the Air Force Tim moved back to live out his life in Longmont, CO where Tim and Betty were very happy. He worked for most of those years at Custom Leasing for one of his best friends, Randy Lofquist. During hunting season you could find him in the woods, but Tim’s passion was preaching and teaching the Gospel of Je-sus. He lived his faith every day. Another best friend was also his mentor, Pastor Don Veazey who was very influential in helping Tim grow in his faith.
Tim is survived by his loving wife, Betty; his father and mother Dr. Duane Onley and Sondra Onley; children Terry Koester, Karry Jo Brady, Shane Crawford. And Kyron Brady and Jenny Hirschfeld who Tim considered his children; seven grandchildren in-cluding Amanda, Heather, Shealei, Jayden, Cassandra; eight great-grandchildren; six of his siblings, Elizabeth (John) Garber, Lynnette (Jeff) Morrison, Steven (Liana) Onley, Peter (Shelly) Onley, Rebecca (Greg) Schindorff, Debra (Josh) Seifert; and many other family members - too many to name.
Tim is preceded in death by his little brother James “Jimbo” Alan Onley, his nephew Luke Onley and his great-grandson Brady Surovik.
One of Tim’s favorite scripture is : Proverb 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
