Tom L. McFeeters, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on May 4, 2019 at home surrounded by family in Erie, CO. Tom was born in San Antonio, Texas on April 18, 1938. He was preceded in death by his parents Marshall M. and Grace McFeeters. Tom married Doris Jean McKelvey in 1970 and was blessed with 2 sons and 4 grandchildren.
Tom grew up on a cattle ranch/wheat farm near Freedom, OK. He graduated from Mooreland High School then obtained BS degrees in Chemistry and Physics from Northwestern State College in Alva, OK. Tom earned his Masters degree in Analytical Chemistry from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK. He then worked as a chemist at Rocky Flats for his entire 33 year career.
Tom was a pilot and owned a Cessna 182. He was also an advanced skydiver, having completed more than 500 jumps. He was avid outdoorsman and liked fishing, camping, and sailing, especially with family and friends on mountain lakes and streams. However, his greatest passion in life was his family.
Survivors include wife Doris Jean McFeeters; son Tom M.W. McFeeters, his wife Jennifer, their children Josh, Ryan and Megan of Littleton, CO; son Robert L. McFeeters, his wife Hana, their daughter Julie Jean of Madison, AL; 3 brothers, Jim from Freedom OK, Melvin from Hunter, OK and Merlin from Kansas City, MO.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, May 7 from 6-7 pm at Howe Mortuary 439 Coffman St. in Longmont, CO. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 8 at 10 am at Howe Mortuary. Burial to follow at Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Erie, CO. Reception to follow at the McFeeters’ residence 4696 Anne Place Erie, CO.
