Ted Wright, 74, passed away at home in Longmont on February 3, 2014. He was born in Loveland to Ted and Ethel Wright on July 6, 1939. At age 2 they moved to Greeley. He graduated from Greeley High School in 1957 and was on the famed GHS state championship basketball teams in both 1956 and 1957. He played ball at the University of Northern Colorado and received a B.S. in 1962 and M.S. in 1965. He taught technical education at Wheatridge High School for 30 years and was assistant basketball coach and head golf coach for many years. He positively impacted thousands of young lives.
Ted married his college sweetheart Jeananne Olsen in Greeley on March 11, 1962. They raised 3 children in Lakewood and moved to Longmont in 1992. They shared a passion for golf and played the past 25 years at the Fox Hill Club in Longmont. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and the Golf Club Makers of America. He especially enjoyed his 1934 Ford Roadster.
He is survived by his wife Jeananne; son Rhett (Marcy) of Littleton; son Bert (Laura) of Scottsbluff, NE; daughter Kari Kujlke (Olaf) of Duluth, MN; 7 grandchildren Jonah, Addie, Cali and Izzy Wright of Scottsbluff, NE, Kiel and Anja Kuhlke of Duluth, MN and Paige Wright of Littleton.
Throughout his long battle with melanoma he remained positive and was an inspiration to all. He was an adored husband, father and grandfather and a loyal and trusted friend to many, including his Greeley High School friends, fellow teachers and his golf buddies.
A celebration of Ted’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7 at Central Presbyterian Church, 402 Kimbark St. in Longmont.
