Sean Paul Blanchard, 49, of Longmont, Colorado, passed away on December 5, 2024. Sean was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on July 22, 1975. He spent his formative years in Baton Rouge before his family moved to West Monroe, Louisiana. Sean graduated from West Monroe High School in 1993. Following high school, Sean attended Delta Technical Institute and then worked for Peregrine Solutions. In 2000, Sean moved to Northern Colorado and eventually accepted a job at Particle Measuring Systems in Boulder and worked there until 2014. During his years at Particle, Sean had the opportunity to travel the world. In 2014, Sean joined Summit Integrated Systems in Louisville, Colorado as their Purchasing Manager where he was an integral part of the team until his passing.
He is preceded in death by his parents-in-law Jeffrey Gill and Leilani Ruthstrom Gill, grandparents Dennis DeBate Sr. and Rosalie Bercegeay DeBate Sutcliffe, grandparents Philip Blanchard and Mildred Esteve Blanchard, uncle Dennis DeBate Jr., uncle Timothy Blanchard, aunt Sue Blanchard Ricard, cousin Jeffrey DeBate, and cousin Chad Ricard.
Family has always been Sean’s number one priority. Sean’s oldest daughter, Heaven, was born in August of 1994 and his youngest daughter, Bleu, was born in June of 2000. Both of his girls were born in West Monroe. In the summer of 2006, mutual friends introduced Sean and Dyann while he was playing with a local band at a coffee shop in Ft Collins, Colorado. After enjoying life together for over 10 years, Sean and Dyann were married on September 22, 2017 in Boulder, Colorado. According to Dyann, loving Sean was easy. They became best friends, encouraging one another’s passions while navigating life’s joys and challenges. Life with Sean was one filled with respect, honesty, laughter, fun and gentleness. He was literally the calm in every stormy situation. Over the years, and with some encouragement from Dyann, Sean realized how much he loved dogs and was a wonderful dog dad to his yorkies Opie, Humphrey and Charlie. In 2023, Sean became a proud PawPaw when his grandson Colt was born. As a single dad, Sean met the challenges of raising two daughters with joy, determination, calmness, consistency, and with a lot of laughter along the way. He taught Heaven and Bleu the importance of following their dreams, the significance of a good cup of coffee, how to properly hang out in a coffee shop, how to choose good people to rally around you, how to enjoy the journey, and the joy of head-banging to your favorite songs in the car. Sean never let his girls leave without saying to them, “I love you, make good choices.”
Sean started crafting his bass playing skills as a teenager in 1990. Music has always been a substantial part of his life and he dedicated much of his time and energy to becoming the greatest musician he could be. One of his proudest achievements was playing and touring with the Flobots of Denver, Colorado starting in 2015. Throughout his time with the Flobots, Sean did tours across the United States and countless hometown shows in Colorado. Sean also played with Tennman/Interscope recording artist Matt Morris in 2009 and 2010. With Matt, Sean had the opportunity to perform on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The CBS Early Show, The David Letterman Show, and The George Lopez Show. Additionally,
Sean had his own musical projects including The Thought Process and Carpool Tunnel Syndrome.
When he wasn’t creating music, practicing, touring, or working, Sean valued talking on the phone with his daughters and parents, spending time with Dyann binge watching shows or having deep conversations, eating good food, watching football and basketball, and hanging out at coffee shops. Facetiming with Heaven, Bleu and his grandson Colt, and sometimes even his grandcat “Sir Winston,” became a daily event that he always looked forward to. He loved going to Broncos games, concerts and live shows of all music genres. Sean was an avid coffee connoisseur and has been known to have multiple iced Americanos throughout the day. Family beach vacations were always the highlight of his summer (and he could occasionally even be caught playing a card or board game). During his life, Sean was able to travel the world and experience various cultures including Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Germany, Italy, Rwanda, Brazil, Argentina, Canada, and many other countries. He will always be remembered for his infectious laugh, huge smile, down to earth personality, love of all kinds of music, genuine care for others, kindness, resiliency, and his ability to make everyone around him feel comfortable and included.
Sean is survived by his wife Dyann Blanchard of Longmont, Colorado; his parents Randall and Kathy Blanchard of West Monroe, Louisiana; his children Heaven Hughes and her husband Alex Hughes of Littleton, Colorado, and Phelix Bleu Gamble and her husband Sylvan Gamble of Portland, Oregon; and his grandson Colt Hughes of Littleton, Colorado. He is also survived by his sister Emma Blanchard and niece Phoenix Linn of Satellite Beach, Florida; brother-in-law Jason Gill of Leander, Texas; and brother-in-law Garret Gill of Austin, Texas.
The Blanchard Family would like to express immense gratitude to the staff of the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center in Longmont, UC Health Surgical Clinic at Longs Peak Hospital, UC Health Palliative Care at Longs Peak Hospital, and The Denver Hospice for being so dedicated to taking care of Sean throughout the past three years.
