Scott L. Harper, 39, went to be with our Lord, Wednesday June 24, 2015 from a ruptured aortic aneurysm. At his side were his beloved wife, Amber, and his loving parents Ed and Becky. He was born February 20, 1976 to Becky and Ed Harper in Boulder, Colorado, and spent his youth growing up in Fort Collins, an area that he dearly loved. After graduation from Rocky Mountain High School with honors and awards in academics and leadership, he started college at Kansas State University with a full-ride scholarship in mechanical engineering where he was also a walk-on pitcher for the K State baseball team. During that year he found that he preferred business and marketing to engineering. Following the year at K State, he did one year of international travel where he volunteered his time, education and love of children to assist underprivileged children in Belize, Nepal, and Australia. He then returned to Colorado State University where he earned his BA in business marketing. During his time at CSU he recognized his love for all things international. He also served as President of the student chapter of Habitat for Humanity. After graduation from CSU with his BA, Scott went to San Jose California, where he worked in several capacities. The one job he was most proud of was his job at San Jose Harley Davidson where after two months of training, he sold over $1M of motorcycles and accessories during a 3-month period. Scott then earned his MBA in International Business from prestigious Thunderbird University School of International Business. His time at Thunderbird was marked by his leadership and his newly developed passion for rugby where he again demonstrated his leadership ability after being elected president of the rugby team. With his leadership, he developed many lifelong dear friends. He truly is blessed by his Rugby teammates. After his graduation from Thunderbird, he went to the Northeast where he honed his skills in marketing with Hilti Corporation and earned the highest recognition possible for marketing from the division he worked for. He again made life-long friends from his time in Boston where he lived directly on Hanover Street. He would often invite bands performing for local festivities in front of his apartment into his home for grilled hamburgers. After two years in the Northeast, he arranged a transfer back to Colorado where he bought a beautiful home and became the sales manager for a 3-state region. He loved the Colorado experience of the outdoors and the mountains very intensely. He loved cross-fit and his friends there, and Harley Davidson motorcycles, dirt biking, mountain biking and 4-wheeling in his beloved Rocky Mountains. After two years back in Colorado, he wanted to work for himself, so he developed a vision for and spent the next 5 years of his life building 3 Rock Liquors in Firestone where he was known as the Chief of Good Times. During his leadership at 3 Rock, he was blessed to meet and marry Amber, the love of his life. They had a baby girl, Taylor Marie, who is just now three months old. Scott is survived by his wife, Amber Harper, daughter, Taylor, son Peyton; his parents, Ed and Becky Harper; his best friend that he loved as his brother, Evan Spytma; aunts Sally (Fred) Fanton, Kathy Cuney (Fred); Jean Kahn; uncle Don (Lillian); cousins from the Cuney family, the Fanton family, the Kahn family, and the Harper family, and many loving friends and work-related friends.Celebration of Scott's life will be 2 PM Wednesday July 1, 2015 at Westview Presbyterian Church 1500 Hover St. Longmont, Colorado 80501. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation or Colorado Habitat for Humanity and sent in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel 326 Terry Street, Longmont, CO 80501.
