Ronald "Ron" Schmidt

Ronald was born on November 18, 1934 in Illinois to Herbert C. and Leona (Bruken) Schmidt. He graduated from Broadview Academy and then went on to Front Range Community where he graduated with an Associates degree.

Ronald served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged Ronald married Carol Schmidt on August 18, 1957. Together they moved to Longmont in 1980 from Evergreen, CO.

Ronald worked in home construction and was a Master Tradesman. He was in the maintenance department at Porter Hospital before transferring and retiring from Avista Hospital in 2001.

Ronald was a 7th Day Adventist. For 20 years he enjoyed playing Santa at various hospitals; and in his free time would go traveling, Jeeping and spending time tinkering and futzing.

Ronald was preceded in death by his son Ronald L. Schmidt, Jr., his grandson Steven Corcilius, and his parents.

He is survived by his wife Carol; his daughters Karen S. Author and Linda Martin; his brother Charles H. Schmidt; his grandchildren Gena Chymych, Ben Martin, Aiyanna Schmidt and Maiya Schmidt; his great grandchildren Angelica, Trysta, Bella, Ily, Aonica, Synphonie, Addie, Noble, Lynleigh and Maggie.

Ronald was loved by many and a service to celebrate his life will be held at a future date to be announced later. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
