Rita's energy and smile lightened up our neighborhood. Her love for her pets and her affection for her good husband are an inspiration to all of us who now miss her sorely. I loved every encounter with her and only wish there could have been more! Dave's love and tender care of his wife over the many years of her struggles could not be more admired by those of us who watched and worried.

David wrote to Rita:
We had the good fortune to stumble into an exceptional love - a love we didn't have to invent and more meaningful than either of us had ever known - A love that songs are written about that live an everlasting lifetime.  I wish I would have looked for you sooner so I would have had more time to love you.

Rita, even though you've been gone from this life for only a short while, I will always recall your beautiful smile.  And although you reside now in Heaven above, in my heart here on earth, I can still feel your love and how you and I seemed to share a special ""sister-like"" camaraderie.  I will think of you often and know that now you have no pain or discomfort - you will be smiling  and have that sparkle in your eyes as you did when Dave first introduced us.  I remember your kind and considerate ways, how well you cared for my mother as she was declining, your contagious laugh - - such sweet memories are a treasure to find.  And now that you are gone I realize that my life has been blessed in just knowing you.  And the time that we spent here on this earth together will live on in my heart forever and ever.  Thanks for being such a special friend!

Dave, our thoughts and prayers are with you throughout this most difficult time.  We know how much you loved and cared for Rita - life will be rough for a while since she is no longer there physically, but the lovely memories that you and she shared will always be with you.

We hope you will call upon us anytime, but especially when you are feeling sad and need someone to listen.  We will miss her, too, and that beautiful smile of hers.

Aunt Rita was a beautiful, loving and caring person and we are so fortunate to have crossed paths with her.  I know she was loved so much by Uncle Dave.  She had a heart of gold for both people and furbabies (pets).  I recall her love and compassion she had for Grandma Lowder when she was ill.  I so enjoyed spending time with Rita (and Dave) when we visited Colorado. You will always be in our hearts!  Love Laurie Shifflett
