Rick Lee Rogers, 66, of Johnstown, formerly of Longmont, died September 10, 2015 at Longmont United Hospital. He was born November 9, 1948 in Hays, Kansas to Harley and Joyce (Hilgers) Rogers. He was a 1966 graduate of Plainville High School. Following high school on June 8, 1968, he married the love of his life Kathleen Ward in Plainville, KS. He went on to proudly serve in Vietnam as a part of the United States Army attaining the rank of Sargent E5. The family moved to Colorado in 1975. Rick worked as an accountant and office manager for the Boulder Valley Poultry Farm.
Rick will be remembered most for his love for his family, celebrating football Sunday’s at the house and playing cards and games. He was affectionately known as “gramps” by all the friends of kids throughout the community who loved him.
Rick is survived by his wife Kathleen of Johnstown, CO, his daughters Jennifer Tackett (Nathon Putallaz) of Milliken, CO and Amy Rosati (Anthony) of Firestone, CO., his grandchildren Tyler, Dillon, Tanner, Ally, Nathon and Peyton. His sister Pamela Suppes (Terry) of Loveland, CO. Lance Anderson, Brother in law, of Plainville, KS, as well as multiple nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Diane Rogers and Judith Anderson.
Visitation will be held at Howe Mortuary in Longmont on Wednesday, September 16 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm followed by a Rosary. There will be a reception after the rosary to celebrate Rick’s life and share stories and memories of all the great times we had with him. Refreshments will be provided. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at St. John’s the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont followed by procession to and burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO.
