Ralph Vernon Morgan, Jr. of Longmont, went to be with our Lord on Sunday morning, March 16 from his home. He was 74. Ralph is now fishing at the ""big lake"" with friends and family who preceded him in death.Ralph was born on August 29, 1933 in Ravenna, Nebraska to Ralph V. Morgan, Sr. and Marjorie Davis Morgan. He grew up in Nebraska, graduating from Ainsworth High School, in 1951, where he was active in baseball, basketball and track. He attended Grand Island Business College, obtaining an Associates Degree.Ralph joined the J.M. McDonald Company, managing stores in the states of Nebraska, Kansas, Texas and eventually landing in Longmont in 1960. He worked with several other companies, including Music Showcase, Boulder. Ralph went into the wholesale food business and as regional sales rep and vendor with the Wasatch Sales and Service Company. He thoroughly enjoyed the road and working in the wholesale food business. In later years Ralph and Beverly opened a catering business in Longmont, Creative Catering. Ralph was active in the Longmont Jaycees, Heart of Longmont and the Longmont Chamber of Commerce. He was pleased to have been involved with committee that helped bring the FAA Center to Longmont. He worked with the Cushman, Jim Matthews Gallery of Homes and The Fort real estate firms. He was named Realtor of the Year in 1979.With his family he enjoyed camping, fishing, especially his annual fishing trips to Canada.Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister Karleen Layh.Surviving are his wife of Longmont, two sons Bill Morgan and his wife Barbara of Wichita, KS and Kerry Morgan and his wife Marjorie of Texas City, TX, a daughter Shereen Madden and her husband Tim of Berthoud, a brother Glen Morgan and his wife Sally of Neligh, Nebraska, a brother in law George Layh of San Diego, CA; 9 grandchildren Andrea Wilburn, Jeanne Dworak and her husband Anton, Sarah Neal and her husband Uriah, Joe Morgan, Liz Morgan, Anna Morgan, and Morgan Madden and 5 great grandchildren; Naomi Lund, Jordan Smith, Vance Dworak, Camrin Neal, and Lela Mae Dworak.A cremation has been entrusted to the Howe Mortuary.Services will be held at 1:30 a.m., Thursday, March 19, at Faith Community Lutheran Church, with Pastor Dan Hansen officiating.
