December 27, 1931 - August 20, 2024
Our beautiful mom, grandma, great-grandma and friend, Nancy Brown Randolph, passed away on August 20, 2024. She was born on December 27th, 1931 to Fletcher and Bess Brown in Longmont, Colorado. She lived in Longmont her entire life, attending Central and Lincoln Schools and Longmont High School, graduating in 1950.
At Colorado State University she majored in occupational therapy and became a lifelong member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority—a tradition carried on by her daughter Beth and granddaughter Natalee. Though her studies were interrupted when she contracted polio, Nancy’s resilience shone through as she began working for Dr. Byron Yost in Longmont.
Nancy married Robert Randolph on November 6th, 1955. Together, they raised three children - Scott, Doug and Beth. They divorced in 1997.
She played a key role in building the family business, The Randolph Agency, into one of Longmont’s leading real estate and insurance firms, and she skillfully managed numerous rental properties throughout her career. She was a member of Chapter FD PEO from 1956-1997 and was also a member of the Sunshine Club of Longmont.
Nancy had many wonderful stories of growing up in Longmont and all of the changes that she witnessed. She enjoyed amazing travels all over the world - her favorites being Africa, Austria and Ireland. Though her journeys around the world were beautiful, her countless trips to the family cabin in Allenspark, CO always held a special place in her heart.
A gifted knitter, Nancy made blankets, scarves, baby hats and dish scrubbies that kept her family and friends warm and happy. She was also well-known for her delicious homemade peanut brittle and made thousands of pounds of it in her lifetime. It was always a treat when a bag of Nancy’s peanut brittle made it to your doorstep!
Nancy was the “ultimate” grandma. She attended all of her grandkids’ activities, cheered for their accomplishments and helped raise them with unconditional love. She introduced them to double solitaire and was a passionate puzzle enthusiast, fostering their lifelong love for games. Nancy loved all sweets and fortunately possessed a metabolism to support her habit. She ended every meal with dessert and had an infamous candy drawer packed with Werther’s Originals, Starbursts, peppermints and more for her grandchildren to enjoy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, nephews Ken Powers and Stephen Randolph, and her beloved “Aunt” Ida Malleis. She is survived by her children, Scott (Laura) Randolph, Doug (Twila) Randolph and Beth (Tom) Anderson, eight grandchildren, Ryan (Lisa) Randolph, Natalee (Caleb) Brost, Kaden Randolph (Morgan Allen), Brett (Claire) Randolph, Shawn Randolph, Max (Amber) Anderson, Ford (Seri) Anderson and Clancy (Brandon) Gunn, five great-grandchildren, Arleigh and Amari Randolph, Nora Brost, Augustus Anderson, and Nia Anderson, sister Elizabeth Powers and nieces Sandra Dahl, Debra Stark, Jone Koford, Linda Powers Kim and Nancy Kusich.
Her family would like to thank Dr. Charles VanHook, Deb O’Brien, Family Tree Private Care and Bristol Hospice for the amazing care they provided to Nancy during her final years. You are appreciated more than words can say, and your work and friendship is valued beyond measure.
Nancy’s beautiful life will be celebrated on Saturday, August 31st at 11:00 am at Longs Peak Methodist Church in Longmont. A luncheon at the church will follow the service. At Nancy’s request, donations in her name can be made to the Salvation Army or to the Longs Peak United Methodist Church (LPUMC) Memorial Fund.
