The Families of Burton and Hunter lost a beloved member November 7th 2015 due to an acute illness. Nancy A. Burton-Hunter left behind a legacy of family and friends that will miss her terribly. Her short life was a gift, she touched many hearts. We will lay her to rest one day before her birthday. We’re not sure how old she was but did the math every year.
She will be most remembered by her contagious laugh, humor, love for her family and elegant taste in beer. Nancy spent most of her life in Colorado, but ventured off to Nebraska where she discovered guns and ammo, endless miles of dirt roads, poor cell service and formed a bond with the country life. While there, she took up the fine art of truck driving and found her niche. She loved being behind the wheel and would have greatly appreciated it if she were the only one on the road. She also loved to golf, organizing anything that appeared to be crooked or out of place, meaningful music and that damn Busch Light.
Nancy returned to her home land of Colorado in 2013 to be closer to her family and two rock star grandchildren, Taylor and Ellie.
Nancy is survived by her Parents, Frank and Mary Jo Burton of Johnstown and Tucson depending on the season. Two children: Dustin Hunter and wife Elizabeth and aforementioned grandchildren, and Kelly McCartney and husband Patrick.
Nancy also had 3 siblings from the Longmont area, Lisa Wollerman (Scott), Susan and David (Toni). All are avid golfers and lie about their scores on a regular basis. She was also survived by a village of nieces; Nichole, Chrissy, Sam, Shanna & Danielle, as well as nephews; Chris and Jordan.
On a last but serious note, Nancy was a woman who loved her friends and family. She taught her children to laugh and live without regret. She will always be the cool mom, a nana, a daughter, a sister and our best friend. She will be missed by all who knew her but have no fear, she will always be with us in spirit.
A private gathering will be held at the Howe Mortuary Chapel in Longmont, on Saturday, November 14, followed by a Public ceremony and reception at 1:30 p.m. at 5047 Rogers Road, Longmont, CO. 80503. Please join us in raising our glasses to laugh, cry and remember the crazy, wonderful woman.
Contributions in lieu of flowers are welcome and can be made to the Nancy Hunter Memorial Fund, c/o Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman St., Longmont, CO. 80501
