Maryann Elizabeth Rademacher, age 92, of Mead, Colorado passed away on Saturday, Sept 2, 2023. Maryann was born Sept 14, 1930, to John Peter Steinbach and Mabel A. (Kluberdanz) Steinbach in Keenesburg, Colorado.
Surrounded by many of her relatives, Maryann grew up in rural Longmont working on a farm. Maryann graduated from Mead High School in 1949. It was through some of her relatives that she met her husband, Bernard (Ben) A. Rademacher. They were married at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Mead on Jan 23, 1951.
Soon after they were married, Ben enlisted in the Air Force. He and Maryann were stationed in various places including Boise, Idaho where their first son, Stephen, was born. Soon after, they found themselves back in Longmont where their daughter, Sharon, was born. Maryann’s next move was to Montrose, Colorado after Ben joined Quest (then known as Mountain Bell). It was here that her sons Stuart and Simon were born.
As luck would have it, they were once again relocated back to Longmont. Maryann and Ben were devout Catholics and attended Guardian Angels Church in Mead. Maryann worked for various school districts first as a kitchen cook and then moved on to kitchen manager for several years. When Maryann wasn’t cooking – either for school or her family – she relished going to garage sales. Her specialty was scouting for antique jewelry.
Maryann and Ben loved to travel in their Winnebago. Her adventures included a trip to Alaska where they saw the midnight sun, to Branson, Missouri where they enjoyed dozens of shows and events, and Albuquerque, New Mexico for the annual balloon festival. Maryann and Ben were members of the Longmont WIT Club and traveled around Colorado and other states with their friends. She has numerous photo albums testifying to interesting places and good times.
Holidays with family were some of her most treasured moments including decorating and seasonal festivities. Her family certainly reaped the benefits of her fondness for baking holiday cookies, cakes, and other goodies. One of her favorite Christmas traditions was to drive around and see the houses decorated in lights.
Maryann is proceeded in death by her husband, son Stephen Rademacher and son Stuart Rademacher, as well as extended family.
She is survived by her daughter Sharon Rademacher and son Simon Rademacher. Along with five grandchildren: Chris Sall, Mallory Taflan, Jeff Rademacher, Jenny Rademacher, Caitlyn Rademacher, and four great-grandchildren.
