Mary Elizabeth Torbett passed from this life on the 5th of July, 2018 at the age of 64 years after battling cancer for more than a year.Mary was born to Edward and Elizabeth (Fladung) Kipp in Topeka, KS and moved with her family first to East Troy, WI and then to McAllen, TX where she graduated from High School in 1972.Mary married the love of her life, David Torbett in 1985. They frequently moved through the west and the south with David's job. While in Lake Charles LA, Mary received accolades from United Way for her job there. After David's passing in 2004, Mary moved to Longmont, CO to be near family.Mary had a very successful career working for Front Range Community College where she started as an administrative assistant in 2010 for the Nursing, Emergency Medical Services, Nursing Assistant, and Medical Office Technology programs. She absolutely loved helping the students and saw countless classes graduate and pinned during her tenure. She was extremely reliable, dedicated, and breathed life into a hectic work environment with her contagious smile. Mary received the prestigious Outstanding Classified Employee award in 2013 and in 2018 for her strong, impeccable, and dedicated work ethic. Mary had a generous heart of gold and always thought of the students first and foremost. Most recently, she was supporting the Department Chairs and the Emergency Medical Service program. Her numerous contributions will be cherished for many years to come.After family, Mary's greatest joy came from her interaction with her pets as well as the time she spent as a volunteer at the Longmont Humane Society.Mary was preceded in death by her husband, David Torbett and her father, Edward C. Kipp. Living relatives include her mother, Elizabeth Cyrus; stepchildren Jasen Torbett (April) and Amber Miller (Eric) and several step grandchildren; brother Edward Joseph Kipp (DeDe), and sisters, Colette O'Brien (Kevin), Jeanne Steensma (Ray), and Joan Massey (husband Lonnie is deceased); along with a number of nephews, great nephews and great nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins.In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in Mary's name to your local Humane Society.
