Marvin A. Hanson of Longmont passed away January 16, 2015 at Longmont United Hospital. He was 72 years old.He was born October 7, 1942 in Williston, North Dakota where he spent his early years growing up. He moved to Longmont in 1980.Marvin married Leila Sundquist, and they later divorced. He married Jennette Siers on October 17, 1990.Marvin was the owner and operator of Longmont Packing; he always said he was a butcher by trade. He was semi-retired and kept himself busy running a commercial lawn service known as Marv's weed and grass mowing.In recent years he and Jennette maintained homes in both Longmont and South Dakota.Marvin was a member of Faith Community Lutheran Church, Longmont Elks Lodge #1055, Longmont Moose Lodge #1548, the VFW and a former member of Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with family, relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Raymond, Alfred and Henry Hanson, brother-in-law Al Kretman and sister-in-law Donna Hanson.Marvin is survived by his wife Jennette, three children Kory Hanson (Lori Hughes), Kari Robinson (Gary) and Karmen Hanson (Chris Leroi), three step-children Eugene McClure Jr., Lisa Patterson and Scott Meyers, granddaughters Jessica, Morgan, Sierra, Shannon, Ashley and Alison, grandsons Colton, Eric, Douglas and Ellis, brother Ralph Hanson, sister Betty Kretman, several nieces and nephews and his beloved dogs Buck, Gem and Lucy.Memorial services will be held 2:00pm Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Faith Community Lutheran Church. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
