Marj was born November 18, 1922 in Longmont, Colorado the daughter of Leslie W. and Violet McCormick Coon. She was a 1940 graduate of Longmont High School. On September 16, 1946 she married James L. Morrell in Raton, New Mexico.
Mrs. Morrell was the first female driver examiner for the State of Colorado. She retired in 1983 after 20 years of service. She had also worked as a typist in Washington D.C. during WWII.
She loved spending time at the family cabin in Riverside. The cabin was built by her grandmother in the 1930’s and remained a favorite gathering place for the family. She also enjoyed playing the piano, painting, knitting, crocheting, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren. The Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies were the sports teams she followed and cheered on for many years.
She is survived by her daughter Joyce Wagner and her husband Warren of Longmont and her son Ken Morrell and his wife Lisa of Berthoud. She is further survived by her grandchildren: Sharon (Wagner) Dieckhoff and her husband Russ of Oregon, Valerie (Wagner) Stubbs and her husband Josh of Longmont, Lindsey Morrell of Berthoud and Greg Morrell of Berthoud, and her great grandchildren Eli and Zachary Stubbs.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband James and her sons Barry and Jim.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Howe Mortuary Chapel with David Bradshaw of LifeBridge Christian Church officiating.
