Maria Esther Sanchez

September 2, 1965 – July 29, 2017

Maria E Sanchez, of Longmont, passed away peacefully in the company of her family on Monday July 29, 2019, after battling pneumonia. She was 53 years old.

Maria was born in the city of Guantanamo, Cuba, on September 2, 1965. She moved to Spain in 1972, and to the US in 1974, where she lived in New Jersey until moving to Colorado in 2017. Maria was born with developmental disabilities. Nevertheless, with the help of her parents, and a loving network of family, friends and caregivers, she lived a full life with her family and her community. She attended day programs at The Arc of Union County NJ for 30 years, and at Overture in Colorado. She travelled to fifteen states and five countries, notably New York, California, Florida, Arizona, Las Vegas, Mexico and the Dominican Republic. She delighted in hosting visitors from as far away as Spain, Chile and Australia. She enjoyed all things Disney, especially visiting Disney properties.

Maria is survived by her parents, Mario and Maria D Sanchez; by her brother Mario Sanchez and his wife, Anja; by her grandmother Gregoria de la Fuente; and by innumerable loving extended family.

Rosary Prayers will be said at 6:00 pm on Monday, August 5 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel, 439 Coffman St, Longmont, CO. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 6 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 323 Collyer Street, Longmont, CO. Service will conclude at the Church.
