LaVonne Mae Lenort died at 9:33AM Saturday June 19, 2010 at Longmont United Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 78.Bonnie was born on May 31, 1932 in Wells, Minnesota to Henry Herman Niebuhr and Alma Clara Mischke Niebuhr. Bonnie was raised in Wells, graduating from Wells High School in 1950; she was active in basketball, cheerleading and was band majorette. She married George Thomas Lenort on May 6, 1952 in Wells.The Lenort's moved to Longmont in 1967. Bonnie worked as a production manager for Amphenol Manufacturing and as a supervisor for Front Range Cable. Bonnie was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where she was active in the Alter and Rosary Society. She was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, and she was an active member of the B.P.O. Elks #1055, where she served as the Inner Guard and honorary dessert maker. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren in their athletic endeavors. The family enjoyed many fishing and camping getaways. Her skills in the kitchen are legendary, cooking and baking for frequent family gatherings. She loved her sports teams, bowling, bingo and was an accomplished card player.Preceding her in death are her husband George, her parents and brother Ben Niebuhr.Surviving are her two daughters Sue Lenort of Longmont and Debbie (Tom) Petersen of Thornton and their children Starla (Roberto) Rangel and children Courtney and Kaycie Martinez, Cameron Duncan, and Trinity Rangel; and Nathan (Jennifer) Petersen and their children Kaden and Austin ; and three sons Dave (Jody) Lenort of Ft. Collins and their children Anthony, and Karlee and her daughter Alexa. Roger (Jeanne) Lenort of Loveland and their children R.J., Mike and Ashley, and Allen (Kim) Lenort of Mead; two brothers Ray (Charlene) Harris and Dick (Irene) Niebuhr both of Wells, Minnesota; and sister in law Grace Niebuhr of Wells, plus numerous nieces and nephews. A cremation has been entrusted to the Howe Mortuary and Crematory Service.A Celebration of Bonnie's Life and Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Howe Mortuary Chapel. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday June 23, 2010 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Services will conclude at the Church.
