LaVerne Emogene Holmen

LaVerne E. Holmen was born November 23, 1919 in Ulen, Minnesota, the 3rd of 10 children. After attending Business College she worked for an insurance agency in Fargo, North Dakota. She married Sidney Holmen on June 14, 1952. Together they raised 2 daughters while living in Moorhead, Minnesota and Omaha, Nebraska. In 1983 they retired to Sun City West, Arizona where she lived until Sid’s death in 1999. She then moved to Boulder, Colorado to be near family.

She was always known for her spunk and great style. Her mind (and fashion) remained sharp until the very end, at 100 years old. She loved being with family and friends, playing cards and games, a good conversation about current events, and winning at Bingo!

She is preceded in death by her husband, Sid (1999), her daughter, Kathy (2016), 5 sisters and 3 brothers. She is survived by her daughter Marla (Phil Wigotow) of Erie, Colorado; son-in-law Tom Gann of Belton, Missouri; 4 granddaughters, Brandy (Jon) Hansen, Amy Schweikert, Emily (Cale) Soole and Kelly Schweikert. 4 great-grandchildren, Jake & Haley Hansen, Steele & Taytum Soole.

No Service will be held at this time. She will be buried in Sun City, Arizona next to her husband Sid.
