Larry C. Haag was called home to Heaven on Friday, May 29th after living 78 years on this Earth as one of the most respected, loved, and deeply admired brother, husband, father, and Papa. Larry was born on August 7th, 1941 to George and Neola Haag in McCook, Nebraska. He graduated from Beaver Valley High School in 1959 with awards in drama and singing. In addition, he played trombone, basketball, and football. Following his graduation, Larry attended college in Kearney, Nebraska before transferring to Pueblo, Colorado where he then met the love of his life, Lucille Montera. Larry and Lucille were married at St. Patrick’s Church on November 6th, 1965 and recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary. Shortly following their wedding, in 1966 Larry and Lucille moved to Longmont, Colorado to start a family.
Larry had a career in sales, but his passion for people was really what made him such an outstanding person. Larry belonged to the Longmont Jaycees Club, a service organization in which he held several office positions. In 1995, Larry attended ministers training as he felt as though God was calling him towards ministry. He pursued his love for God and for God’s people at Shekinah Ministries in Longmont, placing an emphasis on nursing homes, jails, and prisons.
Larry was a Godly man that has been revered by all that have come to know him. He enjoyed reading, research, and history and was not afraid to search for answers and ask questions. He shared fellowship with many and enjoyed his Tuesday “breakfasts with the boys.” He also enjoyed counseling others and was largely involved in Sunday school and fellowship groups at New Creations Church where he was a member for 45 years. Larry had a deep love for people and treated everyone he met with respect and kindness.
Larry was a true family man. His sisters, Kay, Nancy, Lynette, and Glorianne greatly respected him. He loved and honored his wife; Lucy and he adored his daughter’s Kari and Christy (Gilbert Ledoux). Larry was called Papa by his grandchildren, Heather, Tyson, Lauren, Melanie, Mason, and Peter; all of whom would describe him as “nearly close to perfect.” He was an exceptional role model and continues to be a pillar in all of their lives.
Larry’s life will be celebrated on Friday June 5th at New Creations Church in Longmont at 10:00am. Due to the current social situation, the family and the Church asks that everyone that attends the service to wear face masks as well as respect any other precautions needed in order to hold the celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, the family also wishes for any donations to be made to Shekinah Ministries to allow for other passionate people like Larry, to spread the gospel to all of God’s people.
