Kevin Michael Kudrna of Broomfield, CO passed away suddenly on April 3, 2025, in Crested Butte, CO. Kevin, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend spent his last days doing some of the things he loved skiing and fishing.
Kevin was born on May 23, 1958, in Albuquerque, NM to Kenneth and Betty Kudrna. In 1960, his family moved to Boulder, CO where Kevin and his four siblings grew up. Kevin, with the help of his three brothers, looked out for their little sister and gave their mother much to pray about, from broken bones to motorcycle accidents. He graduated from Fairview High School (Class of 1976) and has since attended every annual class reunion. He went to college in Gunnison at Western State, where he skied more than studied and made many lifelong friends.
After college, he met his wife, Carrie Snyder, and they were married in 1987 at Sacred Heart of Mary in Boulder. Kevin was a devoted and loving father to their two daughters, Kiley and Jordan. His large extended family became his own. He loved attending his nephews' baseball and football games, teaching his nieces how to ski, and traveling with extended family or gathering together to celebrate important events. Kevin took even greater pride in being a grandpa. He recently said that his five grandkids were the best thing to ever happen to him.
He worked at Ball Aerospace, starting in procurement and retired as a Senior Program Manager. He retired in 2019 after 35 years, but continued meeting his colleagues for weekly happy hours.
Kevin loved to fish, ski, golf, and hunt. Besides traveling around the world with his family, he had many annual trips, including fishing in Canada, skiing in Crested Butte, and golfing in Arizona. He was an avid Denver Broncos and CU Buffs fan, holding season tickets to CU football and basketball games for 30+ years. Kevin and Carrie also enjoyed visiting their home away from home in Fairplay, CO.
He was a great friend to so many. He was laid back, kind, and very funny. He was a handyman who could fix just about anything. Because of his faith, positive attitude, active lifestyle, and willingness to help others, you never would have known he faced health challenges and multiple surgeries.
Kevin was an active member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church for 35 years and joined the Knights of Columbus after retirement. He enjoyed helping at Nativity school events, but his favorite volunteer activity was manning the beer tent at the annual Holy Rollers Car Show.
Kevin was preceded in death by his mother, Betty, and older brother, Keith “Butch” Kudrna.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Carrie, and their two daughters- Kiley Carroll (Brian) and Jordan Golter (Nate); five grandchildren- Avery, Ben, Beau, and Gus Golter and Harper Carroll; his father, Kenneth Kudrna; and siblings- Kurt Kudrna, Kendall Kudrna, and Kristen Freiboth.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A life well-lived, Kevin leaves behind many cherished memories and a legacy of love, laughter, and adventure.
Services for Kevin will be on Friday, April 11 at Nativity of Our Lord, 900 W. Midway Blvd. Broomfield, CO. A rosary will be said at 10:30 am followed by the funeral liturgy at 11 am. A reception will follow immediately at The Old Man Bar, 4391 W. 120th Ave. Broomfield, CO. There will be a private family burial at Sacred Heart of Mary cemetery later this month.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Kevin’s honor may be made to support scholarships and charities of the Nativity of Our Lord Knights of Columbus https://my.cheddarup.com/c/kevinkudrna/items?cart
