Born on May 24, 1931, in Longmont to Glenn B. and Cleo V. Tallman, Ken was part of a pioneer family in the Riverside area. He attended Bunce School in Allenspark, (often as the only student) until moving to Longmont at the age of ten.
Ken proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1948 to 1952. He was honored with the Ambassador of Peace Medal from the Republic of Korea in recognition of his service.
Following his military service, Ken earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and the University of Colorado Boulder in 1957. He began his long and dedicated career at Rocky Flats in Golden, Colorado, where he worked from 1957 until his retirement in 1992.
On February 26, 1953, Ken married the love of his life, Mary Lou Tallman, in Boulder, Colorado. Together, they shared 72 wonderful years of marriage. Ken was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Ken was a longtime member of several organizations including the VFW, American Legion, Elks, St. Vrain Lodge #23, and the Rocky Flats Homesteaders. He also held a strong connection to the Hygiene Church as a child and was active in the Hygiene Cemetery Association as an adult.
Ken found great joy in spending time in the mountains, hunting and fishing, and cherishing every moment with his grandchildren, family, and friends. He also loved to play cards with family, so much so that later on, even with his dementia he was able to play (and beat) everyone he played.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Dan Tallman, and his brother Dale Tallman.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou Tallman; his daughter, Sondra Tallman; his daughter-in-law Mary Tallman, and his beloved grandchildren—triplets Brandon, Madison, and Luke. He is also remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
