Karen was born in Polk County, Iowa to Lloyd and Lubertha Denney and was the third of four siblings. Karen grew up in the Oskaloosa, Iowa area and attended Oskaloosa Public Schools. On April 15, 1972 Karen married Marv Hulbert and they resided in Altoona, Iowa a short time before moving to Colorado. Karen raised 3 children while running a household and operating various businesses for many years. During this time Karen enjoyed staying involved in her children’s activities, collecting antiques, socializing with friends, and volunteering.
Karen is survived by her husband, Marv, three children, Brett Hulbert, Jeff (Angie) Hulbert, and Tracie (Jeremy) Grover, seven grandchildren, Annabelle Hulbert, Victoria Hulbert, Mason Hulbert, Cody Hulbert, Ruby McCune, Avery Grover and Adilyn Grover, and one great grandchild, Kenzley Hulbert. Also surviving is one brother, Craig (Diana) Denney, and one sister, Kristi Clark, along with many nieces and nephews. Karen was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Denney, mother, Lubertha Denney, brother, Roger Denney, brother-in-law, Larry Clark, and granddaughter, Tessa Hulbert.
A Memorial Service was held for Karen on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont, Colorado. A reception took place after at Fox Hill Country Club where family and friends gathered for a time of remembrance and fellowship. Karen's family greatly appreciates all those that were able to attend and knowing that she was so loved. Donations are welcome in Karen's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, Disabled American Veterans Charity (DAV) or other various Veteran organizations.
