Juan "Joe" Jose Valencia

Joe Valencia, age 82, of Longmont, Colorado passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. He was born June 24, 1941 in Pecos, New Mexico to Adelaida (Armijo) and Jose Valencia. He grew up in Pecos, and moved to Longmont, Colorado in 1964 where he attended high school. Joe served in the US Army following high school. On January 23, 1965 Joe married Benita Valencia in Pecos, New Mexico.

Joe worked as a Radiation Control Technician at Rocky Flats in Golden, CO for 26 years, retiring in 1996.

Joe was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, working in the garden and reading western’s.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Ida Sena and his brothers Lucas Valencia, Salvador Valencia, and Nephy Sena.

Surviving are his wife Benita Valencia of Longmont, his son Joey Valencia (Stacy) of Longmont, his daughter Vivian Valencia (Mark Krasberg) of Albuquerque, NM, his brothers Ben Martinez (Tabitha) and Eligio Sena, his sisters Sara Stettler and Lydia Bucci (Ron). Further surviving are his grandchildren Nathanial Valencia and Malia Valencia of Longmont, his stepfather Pedro Sena, numerous nieces, nephews and god-children. Other relatives; Rufina (Francisco) sister-in-law, Molly, sister-in-law, Mercy, deceased sister-in-law, Gene, deceased brother-in-law, Arcy brother-in-law, Beatriz deceased brother-in-law and his spouse Mabel, and Aurelio brother-in-law deceased and his wife Gloria, also deceased.

A visitation for Joe will be held Friday, May 17, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Howe Mortuary Chapel, 439 Coffman Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501. A rosary will occur Friday, May 17, 2024 at 5:00 PM. A mass of christian burial will be held Monday, May 20, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 323 Collyer Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501. A graveside committal will occur at 11:45 AM at Foothills Gardens of Memory, 14241 N 107th Street, Longmont, Colorado 80504. A reception will follow at 12:30 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Benedict Hall, 323 Collyer Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501.
