Joyce M. Frank

Joyce was born on November 28, 1940 in Omaha, NE to LeRoy and Catherine (Wilson) Lockwood. The family moved to Longmont, CO in 1941 and Joyce graduated from Longmont High School in 1958; after that she attended Western State College.

On June 24, 1962 she married Melvin Frank in Loveland, CO. Joyce and Mel enjoyed 54 years of marriage before Mel passed away in 2017. Joyce enjoyed a long career working in the administrative and accounting field, and retired from Boulder County after more than 20 years.

In her free time she enjoyed going out to lunch with friends, sending cards to family and friends, and spending time with her family. Together Joyce and Mel enjoyed taking trips “up the hill” to Blackhawk. After their kids moved out, they spent all of their time spoiling their dogs.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Mel in 2017; her parents; her brother Stewart Lockwood; and her sister Cathy Unrein.

She is survived by her son David Frank (Michelle) of Firestone, CO; her daughter Jane Madrid (Randy) of Longmont, CO; her grandchildren Kristina, Jessica and Cassandra Frank; her great-grandchild Bryleigh Frank; her brother Frank Lockwood (Ginger) of Longmont, CO and her sisters Joan Kappel of Longmont and Linda Boles of Birmingham, AL; as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and longtime friends.

Joyce was a loving wife, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She always thought of others during the holidays and other special occasions, and loved keeping up with family and friends. She touched many lives and will be missed every day.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday April 29, 2023 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Joyce will be inurned with her husband Mel at Foothill Gardens of Memory. Memorial contributions can be made to the Longmont Humane Society. Visit www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com to share condolences.
