John was the first of three sons born to Joe and Ann Jansen on July 9, 1989. He was born in Anchorage Alaska and spent his younger years growing up enjoying everything Alaska had to offer with his family.
When he began elementary school, his family relocated to Longmont, Colorado. John graduated from Longmont High School where he made lifelong friends, some of whom never left his side during his final days. During high school, John thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the Triple Threat Drag Racing Team.
As an adult, John worked as an accomplished insurance adjuster and enjoyed the freedom of being able to work in different parts of the country, like New Jersey, Texas and Florida.
In December 2017, he was diagnosed with Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST), which later metastasized to his bones. With his life partner Zoe by his side, John bravely battled GIST and sought treatment around the country, including New York, Utah, Texas and Colorado. John loved life and is a hero to many for his tenacity and relentless perseverance in the face of adversity.
John was born into a big extended family who he loved very much and who loved him just as much. He was known for attending any and every family gathering or event he was able to. He was also an avid gamer and in the last year of his life started a streaming channel as Canc3r.Fight3r.Moos3. His smile and laughter will be missed by all who knew him.
An intimate graveside burial will be held on Wednesday December 11, 2024 in Longmont, Colorado. A larger celebration to honor John’s life will be held at a later date, to be decided.
John is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Joseph & Evelyn Jansen; maternal grandfather Paul A. Fischer; Aunts Anna Jansen and Barb Jansen; Uncle Paul W. Fischer; and cousin, Autumn Rose Jansen.
