Josephine was born on a farm during the depression along with five siblings; Donna, Florence, Sylvia, James, and Joseph who passed away as an infant. The family eventually moved away from the farm and into Aberdeen, South Dakota and then finally to Rapid City, South Dakota in 1949. Joanne was a volunteer member of the Civil Air Patrol and graduated from Cathedral High School in Rapid City, South Dakota in 1954. She then went on to attend Black Hills Teachers College in Spearfish South Dakota.
Josephine was married to Neil Brunson in 1956 and was preceded in death by daughters Patricia Boone and Cynthia Brunson. Josephine moved to Longmont area in 2014 from Loveland, Colorado and previously from Omaha, Nebraska and Widefield, Colorado. She was a homemaker her entire married life and was of Catholic faith. She supported Catholic Church efforts through Catholic Daughters, enjoyed bowling and attending school and sporting events with children and grandchildren.
She is survived by husband Neil, sons Robert, Edward, and Douglas Brunson, grandchildren Gina Puzo, Bathani Puzo, Daniel Mittskus, Sarah Rowe, Michael Brunson, Zachary Grady, and Jacob Grady, and great-grandchildren Jax Anderson, Theodore Puzo and Tyler Rowe.
A celebration of life for Joanne will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Howe Mortuary Chapel, 439 Coffman Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501. Following the celebration of life will be a reception at 2:00 PM at Howe Mortuary Event Center, 439 Coffman Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501.
